1. Safety Cover or Winter Cover?

Winter Covers

Winter covers have an easier installation system. After laying the cover over the pool, you would place water tubes around the perimeter to hold the cover in place. This type will also save a few dollars in your wallet.

Safety Covers

Safety covers are a little more on the pricey range of covers. They usually require professional installation. This cover attaches using posts, or hooks, that are drilled into the concrete. This type of anchoring allows it to be more securely attached making it a safer alternative for families with elderly members, children, and/or pets. Safety covers are also more aesthetically pleasing over the winter cover since it will be in your backyard for months at at a time.

2. Mesh vs. Solid

Solid Covers

Keeps dirty water out of the pool from leaves and debris that land on the cover
Water must be pumped off surface when snow/ice melts. Water will not drain through like mesh would
Some solid safety covers have a center drain that catches fine dirt and debris, but allows water to drain through.
Keeps sunlight out to prevent algae from growing when the weather warms up

Mesh Covers

No need for pumping water because of the mesh material
Uses a tight weaving of material to prevent dirt and debris from passing through with the water. Debris may change water color
Easier to install and remove because of the light weight material
Allows sunlight through which may cause algae to begin growing the moment the weather starts to warm up in the spring

3. Above Ground Choice
